wine tasting with julie

Julie, one of my wine-reps has brought in a number of wines for me to try, so i am going to blog in real time my reviews of the wines.

#1 Christine Andrews Viognier-2007, Lodi, California $12.00 retail
"bouquet of ripe peaches witha hint of honeysuckle. Its intriguing aroma gives way to rich mango with subtle notes with a long, full finish."
I agree. Very nice and light with a creamy note that would be nice on a warm spring day with grilled chicken.

#2 St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc-2007, napa valley- $23.00 retail
"a show stopper, with ruby grapefruit, guava, and a hint of clover...focused lemon, lime and grapefruit"
crisp, not as grapefruity as reviewed by the winery. i like this wine!

#3 Alamos Chardonnay 2008, Argentina $16.99 retail
"tropical fruit, ripe citrus, apple and pear with vanilla"
lightly toasted- nice chardonnay, easy drinking, alittle oak in the finish, nice.

#4 Sonoma Creek Chardonnay2005 $16.99 retail
"peaches, apple and vanilla notes"
ewww.. this is not my favorite. too much oak.

Well that's all for now. Look for info on our website www.stokesomaha.com

see ya soon.

time for a remodel

Welcome to my first blog entry as Stokesguy! I am the executive chef for Stokes Grill and Bar in Omaha, Nebraska.
My partner and I are getting ready to celebrate 12 years at our original location at Miracle Hills at 114th and dodge.
Whew! 12 years...we are very happy to be here, and are so thankful to our faithful customers that have supported over the years.

I want to tell you about one of the best wines i have tried in the past month.
75 Wine Company, Amber Knolls Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa Cabernet at a great price! Just the right amount of ripeness, tannins, great fruit....
well balanced. i have had a glass of it every week.

see you soon!!
